Caral, the name of this pre Inca Civilization, comes from the nearest town to the archaeological site. It is believed that the word Caral belongs to a missing regional language. The natural environment of the area which isolated Caral, gave this pre Inca civilization a sacred roll.
Caral is comprised of 32 architectural sets with different sizes and functions. Up date, six buildings pyramid and a series of medium and small buildings, including temples, residential areas, public squares, amphitheater, shops, shrines, and streets have been identified.
