HIKE THE INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU
This trek is for those who want to the experience the life-changing Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, without committing to the traditional 4-day camping expedition. Overnight in a hotel (not included in quote).
The “Express” is a 2-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu excursion, which includes a visit to the impressive Wiñay Wayna ruins (“Forever Young” in Quechua) set in a steep hillside looking over the Urubamba River. These Inca ruins are comprised of upper and lower house structures set among many agricultural terraces, connected by a long staircase and several fountain structures.
From Wiñay Wayna the Inca trail continues along the top of the Machu Picchu mountain to Intipunku (sun gate), where the Citadel of Machu Picchu reveals itself in all its splendor. A short downhill walk is the final section of the trail. You will enjoy a guided tour of Machu Picchu on day 2 of this Inca trail tour package.
INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU TOUR ITINERARY
Cusco / Sacred Valey – Km 104 – Intipunku – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes
Take a train from Poroy or Ollantaytambo Stations to km 104 on route to Machu Picchu. You will notice that the scenery changes dramatically, from Quechua to cloud forest, the latter of which will provide the backdrop for your walk.
At Km104, you will register with the Machu Picchu authorities to begin your walk. You will follow an uphill trail through breathtaking geography to Wiñay Wayna, where you will take a short break and check in with the Machu Picchu authorities to continue your walk.
Continue your hike to Inti Punku, the entrance to Machu Picchu (2,350m/7,710ft), where you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the sacred city. Machu Picchu will surprise you with its impressive location and architecture, as well as with evidence of the intellect and spirituality attained by the Andean people, under the rule of the Incas.
Afterwards, you will walk by the archaeological site to take your booked transportation to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will check into your hotel (not included in this quote). Enjoy a free evening of rest after hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu .

Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes
Take the bus up to the Archeological Site of Machu Picchu early in the morning to enjoy a guided tour of the city.
After your tour, and if you’re adventurous, we recommend you hike the Huayna Picchu Mountain (400 people limit per day; not included in quote), to admire impressive, and lesser-known panoramic views of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Alternatively, you can visit the Temple of the Moon (not included in quote). After lunch, you can walk up to the Sun Gate or Inti Punku (not part of guided tour) to admire another amazing panoramic view of Machu Picchu, or visit the Inca Bridge.
Take the bus down (last bus departs at 17:30), on your own, to Aguas Calientes and enjoy its natural hot springs (not included in quote). Transfer, on your own, to the station to take a train back to Poroy/Ollantaytambo Station (20min/90min respectively from the City of Cusco), where a driver will be waiting for you with a sign with your name on it to transfer you to your hotel in Cusco.
